Years ago a very sweet girl from Bulgaria, approached me on Facebook and asked permission to get my portrait tattooed on her. Sounds nuts right? lol After some months of getting to know her, turns out she was a sweet girl and very humble and to the point for her reasons for wanting this. So yeah, ok…do it on one condition….I get a pic of it! hahaha

In the winter of 2011 I login to FB and low and behold there’s this familiar face staring back at me in tattoo form. I look again and realize wow!! She wasn’t messing around!! She traveled to Prague of all places to get this tattoo. Prague just happens to be on my ‘I would die to see’ list of places to go. Prague holds one of the most beautiful ossuaries in the world. It is estimated to contain the skeletons of between 40,000 and 70,000 people. An enormous chandelier of bones, which contains at least one of every bone in the human body, hangs from the center of the nave with garlands of skulls draping the vault.

People ask, “Why would someone get a tattoo of you?” I take my body modification very serious. The symmetry, the layout, the balance. The time spent getting it. The time spent healing. My facial piercings have been done with precision. They are art. I love how she turned MY art into her art. I am still truly flattered to know someone found a photo of mine inspiring enough to commit a piece of their life and flesh to. Who really cares why she got it, it’s a beautiful tattoo whether it be me or someone else on there.

Keep rockin Nina!!

Regards,
Sonja
